It is not a calendar of events. Each monthly card describes the question that month is likely to put in front of you — the thing you will keep bumping into — and the theme card names what the whole year is quietly about underneath.

Read that way, a year spread is useful precisely because it is vague about specifics and precise about pattern. Knowing that a particular stretch is going to keep asking you about boundaries is worth more than a wrong prediction about a date.

If you take one thing away, take the theme card. Twelve monthly cards are too many to hold; one is not. Wheel of Fortune as a year theme means something genuinely different from The Hermit — the first is a year that happens to you and asks you to move with it, the second is a year that only works if you take some of it alone.

The months hang off that. A hard month under a Hermit year reads differently than the same card under a Wheel year.

You draw all thirteen cards yourself, and the reading is then written out in full and saved to your account permanently — it is not a page you have to screenshot before it disappears. Most people come back to it around month four, when the first thing lands, and again at the end.

Rereading it later is half the value. A year card that made no sense in January is often obvious by August, and that is worth seeing in your own record rather than remembering vaguely.

Birthdays and new years are the traditional moments, but the useful one is any point where a chapter has just closed — a move, a job, an ending. A year reading drawn in the middle of an unresolved crisis will mostly describe the crisis.
